Summer Palace (Yiheyuan) - Ancient Chinese imperial gardens

The Summer Palace, as the best-preserved imperial residences in China is mainly dominated by Longevity Hill(Wanshou Shan)and Kunming Lake. Emperor Qianlong in Qing Dynasty and his royal families used to retreat to this royal garden in summer to get away from the heat in Beijing. This royal garden is a vast ensemble of lakes, plants. gardens and palaces with bountiful halls and pavilions in the front while mostly natural scenery in the rear. In December 1998, it was listed into World Heritage List by UNESCO and was acclaimed as "a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design”. Kunming Lake

The famous Seventeen-arch Bridge in Kunming Lake spans between South Lake Island and the East Coast. The bridge is 150 meters long, like a long rainbow on the sparkling blue waves. It is modeled on the famous Lugou Bridge. On the top of each stone bar on the bridge are carved stone lions in different shapes, which are delicate, magnificent and beautifulWhen people are standing on the shore in the sunny summer and autumn, looking at the lake, motor boats and painted boats carrying tourists around the lake tour; rows of boats were sailing on the tourists' paddles. Bridge, island, temple, and pavilion are reflected in the water, and the lake is full of vitality. It presents a magnificent picture.

Suzhou Street

Suzhou Street is distributed in the garden, small and exquisite, against the mountains and water. It is just like the Jiangnan picture dotted on the axis of the building of the back mountain and back lake. It further sets off the tranquility and elegance of the back lake and vividly reproduces the city's mountain forests. The buildings in Suzhou Street, whether in the water or beside the water, all echo the landscape on Longevity Hill, with overall layout and orderly landscaping. The beautiful Jiangnan-style water town market in Beijing is like a folk temple fair with entertainment, food and commerce, which reflects the unique Qing Palace life and Chinese  flourishing traditional business culture. Visitors can go shopping along the coast or by boat, full of the fun of antique tourism.

Foxiang Pavilion

Foxiang Pavilion : Located in the middle of the mountain in front of Wanshou Mountain, it is an octagonal three-story pavilion built for Tielim, 41 meters high, covered with green trim and yellow glazed tiles. It is the largest building in the Summer Palace. The court enshrines and enlightens the Buddha. Every month, empress dowager cixi burns incense and worships Buddha here. The Foxiang Pavilion was originally a nine-story pagoda Yanshou Pagoda.Due to its grandeur, elaborate pattern and the location on top of the Longevity Hill, it has long been counted as the central building of the Summer Palace. Therefore, the Tower of Buddhist Incense has been considered the perfect place for sightseeing and photography.

Truly it was a great journey, and in it I met with many, whom to know was to love but whom never could I see again; for life has.
