Jingshan Park - Enjoy best views of Forbidden City & Beijing
Jingshan Park is an imperial park with a history of over800 years. Built in 1179 during the Jin Dynasty,it was used as an imperial garden and was properly laid out in Ming Dynasty. Royal families used to have some activities in there such as hunting.
Located on the highest point in Beijing City, the park is adjacent to Forbidden City to the south and Beihai Park to the west. Nowit provides visitors with sweeping views of the Forbidden City and Beijing. There are also various kinds of flowers, such as peony, evening primroseand tulips. In spring, all kinds of flowers bloom in the garden. In autumn, the weather is cool and invigorating, making the park an ideal place for morning exercise.
The highest pavilionin Jingshan Park is called Wanchun Pavilion, a must-see place. You are able to look down on getting a bird-eye view of Beijing and Forbidden City.
Booking in advance means you avoid the long lines outside the imperial garden.

Getting to Jingshan Park
Southern Gate of Jingshan Park: take electric bus line 101, 103, 109, 124, 68, 58 or Special Line 1 or 2. Get off at the Forbidden City station and walk about 200 meters to arrive at the Southern Gate.
Eastern Gate of Jingshan Park: take electric bus line 111, 124 or 58 and get off at Jingshan Dongmen. Walk around 200 meters to the north till reach the Eastern Gate.
Western Gate of Jingshan Park: take bus line 5 or 58 and get off at Xibanqiao. You’ll arrive at the gate after a walk of 50 meters.

Recommended Routes:
There are three gates you can enter Jingshan Park, Southern Gate, Western Gate and Eastern Gate. Southern Gate is opposite to the Forbidden City's north gate, Western Gatecan lead to Beihai Park.Some nice cafes open around the EasternGate. Wanchun Pavilion is the best place to observe the panoramic view of the entire Forbidden City and Beijing. Guests usually visit the park by the following three routes.
Route 1: Entry by Southern Gate-two-storey Qiwang Pavilion -go uphill-Wanchun Pavilion(Ten Thousand Spring Pavilion--go downhill along Houshan Road-Northern Plaza-Exit from the Western Gate
Route 2: Entry by Western Gate-go uphill from the west-pass by Fulan Pavilion and Jifang Pavilion till you reach Wanchun Pavilion-Guanmiao Pavilion-Zhoushang Pavilion-spot where the last emperor Chongzhen of Ming Dynastycommitted his suicide by hanging himself of a tree-Exit from Eastern Gate
Route 3: Entry by Eastern Gate-Shouhuang Pavilion-Northern Plaza-Western Gate-Qiwang Pavilion-Exit from Eastern Gate

- Forbidden City (The Palace Museum) has daily quota of 80,000 visitors daily, and now require both individual visitors and tourist groups book tickets in advance online, Foreign visitors are required to provide passport numbers during the online booking.
- Show passports to get access. The tickets is E-tickets, so there is no paper ticket needed to enter the Forbidden City.Please bring your passport with you when entering the Forbidden City(The Palace Museum)

3. The use of tripods and flash is prohibited in both special and permanent exhibitions.
4. Works of art on loan from other institutions, domestic and abroad, may not be photographed.
5. Photography is prohibited in some of the gift shops as indicated.
